If you've been following along with the iPhone news, you may know that the App Store launched today.

First, I must say I was disappointed with the quality of the apps on the store, and even worse than the poor quality is that the developers of these apps are charging money for them. A lot of the apps that should have been free... or not allowed into the store due to extremely poor interface development... are $0.99 or more. I can only hope that these don't sell at all, and as a result are either made free or improved by the developers, or removed from the store.

That being said, for anyone who is wondering if I am working on an iPhone/iPod Touch app, the answer is yes. I have a couple more things I need to finish before I call it 1.0, but if all goes well it will be in the App Store sometime next week. However, unlike the Dashboard Widget, the app will not be free -- it will be $9.99. But I think it will be worth it, unlike some of the other apps in the store that cost money. And I'm pretty confident that, unless you like RPN, it blows away every other calculator currently available in the App Store.

Version 1.3 of the widget was put on semi-hold while I worked on the iPhone app, so I'm going to try to have it out sometime in late July or August. Sorry for the delay, but I think you'll understand when you see the iPhone app and how much potential there is with the device.
